The village of Bir (elevation: 1400m), located in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh India, is internationally famous as the base for some of the best paragliding in the world. The take-off point at Billing, 14km up a winding road from Bir and 1000m higher, hosts major competitive flying events most years in October or November (including a round of the Paragliding World Cup in 2015). Experienced paragliders fly as far as Dharamshala, Mandi, and Manali from here.
Bir is also an important center of the Tibetan exile community: the lower half of the village is known as Tibetan Colony and there are several Buddhist monasteries and institutes in and around Bir, some of which attract numbers of foreigners for courses and retreats.
DELHI TO BIR Departure from Delhi around 6 PM in an AC Vehicle. Reach by Morning.
A DAY IN BIR - LOCAL SIGHTSEEING & CAMPING Reach Bir by morning. Check-in to the Camps, Relax & have breakfast. Later head out for the sightseeing - Visit Monasteries around the village and checkout the local market for some shopping and café hopping for Tibetan cuisine. Enjoy the beautiful sunset in the Mountains. Later come back to the campsite and enjoy around bonfire and music. Dinner and overnight stay at the camps.
PARAGLIDING AND DEPARTURE FOR DELHI Morning post breakfast check out and drive for 1 Hr. to paragliding take off point at Billing for paragliding session. Safety briefing by pilot for Paraglider and paragliding flight up to 30 mins. with experience pilot. Landing at landing site at Bir. Later explore local café or go for mountain biking (not included in the package) Later in the evening, we depart for Delhi with lots of everlasting memories together.
